Road repaired after 30 years at Sonatala
BOGURA, June 11: The one kilometre Thakurpara-Buramela-Dakkhin Boyra road in Sonatala Upazila has been repaired after 30 years.
It was eroded during the flood of 1988. The repair of the road brought relief to people.
Earlier, lakhs of the commuters of eight unions including school and college going students suffered for the road. They had to cross another six-km road for their communication.
The road was repaired by the initiative of local lawmaker Abdul Mannan.
When the locals informed the MP, he instructed the Water Development Board (WDB) to repair the road immediately.
About Tk 2 crore was spent to dig the Sukhdaha River and repair the road under river digging project of WDB. It took 15 days to make the road commutable.
Now, all types of vehicles are moving on the road in a very short time. The people were relieved from 30 years' sufferings.
After the road was eroded, it was removed from the list of kucha roads of Local Government Engineering Department.
MP Abdul Mannan said they have repaired the road in a very short time. They will bring the road under carpeting soon.
