Bangladesh national football team, the Bengal Tigers, moved to the second stage of the joint qualifier for FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 following a goalless draw against Laos in its home match on Tuesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
On 6th June, the Bangladesh boys won the away match by 1-0 margin following a 73-minute goal of Robiul Islam in Laos.
The boys in red and green have four points while the opponent Laos boys have only one point.
In recent times, Bangladesh played three matches against Laos where it won two and experienced a tie.
Despite the fact that the Laos team is ranked 184th and Bangladesh 188th in FIFA world ranking the red and green jerseys were ready to take a challenge to win the home match and make it their day.
Coach James on Monday was hopeful that his boys would do well in the home match like they did in the away match.
Laos had seven booters from the Thai professional league in the team. They needed to win the match in big margin to survive in the round. But, the tie left them depressed with a single point only.
From the second stage, the group champions and the best four runner-up teams will get the chance to play the next stage.
Earlier, the home boys returned from Laos on Saturday playing the away match and began practice for the home match. Before the away match, they had participated in a weeklong training camp in Bangkok.
