Security measures beefed up in Khulna ahead of Eid
KHULNA, May 27: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Khulna Range Police Dr Khondokar Mohid Uddin in a press conference said that security measures have been beefed up in 10 districts under the division ahead of holy Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday.
"Security measures of three methods have been taken for before, after and during Eid for ensuing safe Eid-ul-Fitr for all to celebrate across the country on June 5," he said while exchanging views with local journalists at the Range DIG office in the city.
Among others, Additional DIGs Habibur Rahman and Nahidul Islam, Police Super of 10 districts of Khulna Division were present.
The Range DIG of Khulna Police Mohiduddin said that at least 16,500 police personnel both in plain clothes and in uniforms will be deployed before one week of Eid at different shopping malls, bus, launch and railway terminals.
They will be deployed at important Eidgah and some risky Eid Jamat ground aiming to check any untoward situation during Eid day, he said, adding that police will be on duties for five days after Eid.
To make the security effective, the police will set up a control room at the Range DIG office in the city.
Special attentions would be given to securing areas including banks, financial organisations, and in and around the shopping malls.
He also asked officials to identify and take actions against muggers, pickpockets, doping gangs and banned engine-run three-wheelers, specially nosimon-korimon and bhootbooty on the highways.
As part of other security measures, range police would also set up close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, archway machine on the highway.
