College student killed in road crash

A female student of Govt. Edward College was killed in a road crash in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district on Thursday afternoon.

An honours second-year student Piya Khatun, 23, was the daughter of Ashraful Islam, a resident of Ajjoltola village under Sahapur union in the upazila.

Witnesses said Ashraf was riding a motorcycle towards home alongwith her daughter.
Suddenly,  a speeding truck from the opposite direction smashed the bike near Bansarbada Bazar around 4 pm, leaving Piya dead on the spot and injured her father Ashraful Islam.

Ashraful was admitted to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex.

The body was recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital, said Bahauddin Faruki, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station.
The driver managed to flee.
