3 killed in road mishaps in 3 dists
Three persons were killed and one was injured in separate road accidents in three districts- Gopalganj, Madaripur and Gazipur, in two days.
GOPALGANJ: A fish trader was killed and another injured in an accident on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Ghonapara area in Kashiani Upazila of the district on Tuesday night. Deceased Rajib Sheikh, 35, was a resident of Paikerpara Village in the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station (PS) Azizur Rahman said the victim was coming to Ghonapara from Gopalpur riding a motorcycle when on the way he lost control over the bike and hit a passerby, leaving him and the passerby injured.
Rajib was rushed to Upazila Health Complex but as his condition worsened, he was taken to Gopalganj 250-Bed General Hospital where he was declared dead.
MADARIPUR: A minor girl was killed and her father injured in a road accident at Mostofapur Bus Stand area in the district town on Monday. Deceased Laboni, 3, was the daughter of Hanif Akon of the area.
Eyewitness said the deceased along with her father was going to her grandfather's house when a speedy truck dashed them from behind, leaving her dead on the spot and her father injured. He was rushed to Madaripur Sadar Hospital. Sadar PS OC Sirajul Haque Sardar said the driver along with his truck managed to flee.
SREEPUR, GAZIPUR: A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed in a head-on collision between a dump truck and the auto-rickshaw on Mawna-Gafargaon regional road at Tepirbari Bazaar in Sreepur Upazila of the district early Monday. Deceased Momin, 35, was the son of Ismail Sheikh of Thakurtala Village under Bormy Union of the upazila.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Sreepur PS SI Mahmudul Hasan said following the accident, the auto driver was seriously injured.
