Preparatory meet on Eid-ul-Fitr held in Khulna

KHULNA, May 23: A meeting on celebrating Eid-ul-fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslim community, in a gaiety manner, was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office here on Sunday.
It was chaired by DC Md Helal Hossain while, among others, officials, freedom fighters, journalists and Imams of mosques attended the meeting.
At the meeting, it was decided that like previous years, the main Jamaat will be held at 8am at Khulna Circuit House Eidgah.
 It was resolved that the Khatib of Town Jam-e-Masjid Moulana Abu Saleh will lead the prayer at the main Jamaat.
In the case of inclement weather, three Jamaats will be held at 8am, 9am and 10am at Town Jam-e-Masjid respectively.
Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) will take all necessary measures including decorating and cleaning the prayer place properly and befittingly. The law enforcement agencies will ensure law and order in all respect during the Eid period. Power Development Board (PDB) was requested to ensure uninterrupted electricity in all the areas under its coverage.
Besides the main Jamaat, there will be a number of Jamaat in different
places of the city, and the meeting also stressed maintaining law and order situation.
Traffic jams on Eid day will be properly taken care of, it was resolved.
It was decided to prohibit crackers' explosion, plying speedy motor cycle on the streets and toot of high scale microphone during Eid day.
It was further decided that a vigilance of team consisting of members of law-enforcing agencies, bus owners' association and district administration will be formed to ensure fair price of tickets of the inter-district coaches.
The DC also requested everybody present at the meeting to distribute Zakat money to the government fund through Islamic Foundation before Eid-ul-Fitr.
