Four policemen depose before Tribunal
Four policemen gave their deposition before the Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal on Monday in a case filed over the deadliest terror attack in Holey Artisan Bakery in 2016.
After taking deposition of four policemen, Judge Mujibur Rahman of Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal fixed May 27 for producing rest of the witnesses in the sensational case.
The policemen who gave statements are Banani Police Station Inspector Wahiduzzaman, Bhatara Police Station Sub Inspector Faruk Hossain, Assistant Sub Inspector Sohagh Hossain and Constable Pradip Chandra Das.
With their testimony, a total of 40 out 211 of prosecution witnesses have given their depositions before the court in the case.
All the eight accused - Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi, Rakibul Hasan Rigan, Rashidul Islam alias Rash, Sohel Mahfuz, Mizanur Rahman alias Boro Mizan, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Shariful Islam and Mamunur Rashid were produced before the Tribunal.
The deadliest attack that shattered Bangladesh and drew global attention, claimed lives of 22 people - nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi-born American and two Bangladeshis along with two police officers - on July 1 in 2016.
Twenty-one people were identified to be behind the attack. Among them, 13 were killed in gunfights at different times.
