Rohingya among 4 killed by thunderbolt

Four people, including a Rohingya man, were killed by lightning strikes in Ramu and Ukhiya upazilas of Cox's Bazar district on Sunday.

In Ramu, several people injured by thunderbolt were taken to Ramu Upazila Health. Among them, Anis, 11, son of Azizul Islam, a resident of Bharuakhali Chowdhury Para in Sadar upazila, died.

The upazila health complex and family planning official Dr Mesbah Uddin Ahmed confirmed the matter.

Elsewhere, two people were killed and three others injured as thunderbolt hit them in Tulabagan area around 11:30am.

Deceased Fatema Khatun, 15, and Afnan, 2, were the children of Mawlana Nurul Islam, a resident of the area, said Ramu Police Station officer in-charge Abul Mansur. 

In Ukhiya, Abdus Salam, 55, a resident of Camp D-5 under Kutupalong Rohingya camp, killed after being hit by thunderbolt, said Ukhiya Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Nurul islam Mazumder.
