Pregnant woman dies from ‘wrong treatment’ in Barguna
BARGUNA, May 17: Allegations have been raised that a pregnant woman died from wrong treatment at 'Kuwait Probashi', a private clinic of the district on Wednesday night.
Deceased Sukhi, 30, was the wife of Shahin Mia of Boro Baliatoli Union in Barguna Sadar Upazila.
The attendants alleged that the woman died from wrong treatment by the unskilled nurse and doctor.
The locals ran vandalism at the clinic protesting the incident.
Shahin Mia said he brought his wife to the clinic following her labour pain at 11am.
After investigation, hospital authority said that they need to do caesarean operation.
She was taken to Operation Theatre at 2pm where she delivered a son.
The child was given to the relatives and the doctors said that the mother and the child are doing well.
In the evening, the clinic authority said she is having uncontrolled hypertension, and needs to be transferred to Barishal Medical College Hospital for better treatment. They fixed an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
When the attendants of the patient had doubt, they took her to Barguna General Hospital where duty doctor declared her dead.
Shahin Mia alleged that his wife died due to operation in risky condition.
He also said that he would file a case against the clinic.
After the incident, the authority locked the clinic and fled away.
The patient's file showed that she was under treatment of Dr Safia Begum.
Civil Surgeon Dr Humayun Shahin Khan said that many allegations were raised against the clinic before.
He said that they have recommended taking legal action against the clinic.
He also said that if the relatives of the patient file written complaint, they will take legal action.
