Highlight history of War of Liberation before new generations: Sujan
RANGPUR, May 17: Railway Minister Advocate Nurul Islam Sujan, MP, has said true history of the War of Liberation must be highlighted before the new generations to bring them up with patriotic zeal.
"We are repeatedly talking about War of Liberation to the new generations. Supporters of Pakistan, Al-Badr, Al-Shams and Razakars are still trying to distort our true national history. So why, everyone must remain alert against those evil forces," he said.
Sujan said this after launching a newly built Map Sculpture "Bangladesh- My Love" at a function held on Circuit House premises in Panchagarh district town on Thursday evening as the chief guest.
The Department Public Works constructed the sculpture as per planning and supervision of Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yasmin.
The Deputy Commissioner delivered welcome speech in the function.
On one side of the sculpture, the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been installed while on other side a poem 'Your Flag Carrier' composed by Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yasmin have been inscribed.
The Minsiter said consciousness of the War of Liberation was destroyed after assassination of Bangabandhu and most of his family members on August 15, 1975.
"We have to present true history of War of Liberation before the new generations and remind them about Bangabandhu, War of Liberation and atrocities committed by Razakars, Al-Badr and Al-Shams against the humanity on this soil in 1971," he said.
'The subsequent governments during the post 1975 periods have distorted history of the War of Liberation. We have to preserve true history of the War of Liberation to bring up new generations in the spirit of the War of Liberation," Sujan added.
Panchagarh District Council Chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat, District and Sessions Judge Jalal Uddin Ahmed, Principal of Panchagarh Mokbular Rahman Government College Professor Md Delwar Hossain Prodhan, Principal of Panchagarh Government Women's College Prof Kanai Lal Kundu, District Council's Chief Executive Officer Abdul Alim Khan Wareshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ehtesam Reza, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abdul Mannan, Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahina Shabnam, Sadar Upazila Chairman Amirul Islam, among others, were present.
