Iftar markets vibrant in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, May 16: The city's iftar markets have been vibrant from the beginning of Ramadan, with people standing in queue in front of different shops offering diverse delicacies.
Like every year in Ramadan, local businessmen appear with many iftar items in the city.
Meanwhile, a festive mood prevails at the city's iftar hub in Shaheb Bazaar during Ramadan. As the time for iftar approaches, buyers begin to gather at the shops in Saheb Bazaar, Laxmipur, New Market, Upashahar, Bhadra Abashik, Talaimari, Kajla, Binodpur, and Alupotti areas.
Rahmania Biryani and Kebab Restaurant, located at Saheb Bazaar Ganak Para, has been operating the restaurant business for many years. They have special arrangements for every year's iftar items, like 'Chicken Shik Kebab' and 'Shahi Firni'. Rahamania restaurant sells per piece Shik Kebab at Tk 30.
However, there are some more iftar items including chickpea and parched rice. Besides, there are various fruits, like banana, papaya, date, apple, and malta.
But, now there is much demand for watermelon and litchi, which are seasonal fruits. Meanwhile, mango may arrive in the market within two weeks.
Johura Khatun, an iftar buyer of Upashahar area, said normally she prepares iftar at her home but she has to buy fruits. There are some foods that she bought from outside such as zilapi, chop and bundia. She wants fresh food and fruits in the month of Ramadan and also in the whole year.
Shahid Mollah, a shopkeeper at Shaheb Bazaar Zero Point said people prefer traditional iftar items like chickpea, piaju, zilapi, date, firni, kebab, kima and sweetmeats.
Apart from this, local restaurants are offering different iftar packages.
