WASA supplies polluted water to 59 areas, report says to HC
Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) supplies contaminated water to 59 areas of its 10 zones.
Dhaka WASA admitted this at the High Court while submitting a report prepared on the basis of allegations city dwellers of some certain areas.
Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju placed the report before the HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam on Thursday.
Receiving the report, the court said that the WASA is responsible to reach safe water to the city dwellers.
The HC also asked Head of Dhaka University’s Microbiology Department Sabita Rezwana Rahman to appear before it on May 21 for giving her opinion.
The areas where polluted water is supplied are:
Zone 1: Jatrabari, Basabo, Mugda, Rajarbagh, Kushumbagh, Jurain, Maniknagar, Manda, Dholaipar and Matuail.
Zone 2: Bhagolpur, Lalbagh, Bakshibazar and Shahidnagar.
Zone 3: Jhigatola, Dhanmondi, Shukrabad, Kalabagan, Bhooter Gali and Mohammadpur.
Zone 4: Shewrapara, Pirerbagh, Monipur, Paikpara, Kazipara and Mirpur.
Zone 5: Mohakhali and Tejgaon.
Zone 6: Shiddeshwari, Shahjahanpur, Khilgaon, Moghbazar, Noyatola, Rampura, Malibagh and Paribagh.
Zone 7: Kadamtali, Daniya, Shyampur, Rasulbagh, Merajnagar, Patherbagh, Shanirakhra, Konapara and Muslimnagar.
Zone 8: Badda, Aftabnagar, Bashundhara and Bhatara.
Zone 9: Uttara, Khilkhet, Fayedabad, Mollartek and Rana Bhola.
Zone 10: Kafrul, Kazipara, Mirpur, Kochukhet and Pallabi.
