Militants attacking across world through ‘lone wolf’ system: IGP
Inspector General of Police Dr M Javed Patwary on Tuesday said that Militants are attacking the law and order forces around the world through ‘lone wolf’ system.

"The trend of lone wolf attacks has been increasing. Activities of militants and terrorists are now under control but it is not possible to root out militancy fully,” he said.

The police chief said this while exchanging views with the new executive committee of Bangladesh Crime Reporters’ Association (CRAB) at Police Headquarters.

CRAB President Abul Khair and its General Secretary Dipu Sarwar addressed, among others, at the meeting, reports BSS.

IGP said “It is possible to prevent the trend of individual attack through exchanging information about militants or suspected people. People became aware after the attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka’s Gulshan on July 1, 2016,”.

He said there is no IS’s (Islamic State) activities in Bangladesh but it’s ideological communication may exist at individual level.

“We have asked to deploy additional policemen in uniform and plainclothes during the Buddha Purnima celebration as well as at the important city points and establishments,” he said.

CRAB vice president Mizan Malik, organizing secretary Rashed Nizam, additional IGP M Shafiqul Islam, DIG (Operation) Barrister Mahbubur Rahman, DIG (Media) YM Belalur Rahman, AIG (Media) Md Sohel Rana, Police Super Kamruzzaman and Senior Information Officer of the Police Headquarters AKM Kamrul Ahsan were present.
