College student killed over trifling matter

A college student was stabbed to death allegedly by his fellows over a trivial matter in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on Tuesday night.

Deceased Juhaer Hossain, 20, was a student of Noakhali Government College. He was the son of Belal Hossain, resident of Alipur Dighir Par in Chowmuhani Municipality.  

The incident took place at Alipur Dighir Par at around 8.30 pm, said Begumganj Circle assistant superitendant of police Md Shahjahan.

Police, so far, detained Abid Hossain, Fahim and six others for their alleged involvement in the incident. All the detainees are residents in Mirwarishpur area, the police official added.

According to locals, Abid's friend Rakib was beaten allegedly by Juhaer and his friends a few days ago over a trivial matter.

Last night, Abid, Ashraf, Fahim and some of their friends came to Dighir Par to caught Juhaer that led to a scuffle.

At one stage, Juhaer's friends tried to take him towards his home but Abid dragged him from behind and forcefully took him to Dighir Par.

Later, Juhaer was found lying in a pool of blood. The boy was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where he was declared dead.
