Newly emerged platform - Technology Media Guild Bangladesh - organized a seminar titled 'Digital Marketing: Crisis in Media and Opportunities' at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar was the chief guest while Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) President Syed Almas Kabir presented keynote on the occasion.
Addressing the session, Minister Mustafa Jabbar said the difference among traditional and social media is 'interactivity' which diverted the advertisers to digital platforms.
"Traditional media have to focus on content development according to users experience rather than they wouldn't survive. Social media have developed the billion dollar market of digital advertising which becomes threat for newspaper and broadcasting media," Mustafa Jabbar added.
Minister Mustafa also assured that the government will work together with industry people to bring the digital marketers under a regulation. In keynote, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said the trend of digital marketing has been increased in the country in pace of increasing internet penetration.
Technology expert TIM Nurul Kabir moderated the panel discussion while TMGM Convener Muhammad Khan made address of welcome.
Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) Senior Vice President Mozammel Babu recommended for developing local social media platform to combat the aggression of foreign entities.
TMGB Convener Muhammad Khan shared the objective of the organization saying that the platform dedicates for development of professional dignity of media people working on technology issue.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Jahurul Haque, Association of Mobile Telecom Operators Bangladesh (AMTOB) Secretary General SM Farhad, Bangladesh Association of Call Center & Outsourcing(BACCO) President Wahid Sharif, Secretary Towhid Hossain, BASIS former President Fahim Mashroor, former Senior Vice President Russel T Ahmed, Bangladesh Open Source Network(BDoSN) General Secretary Munir Hassan, Dell Bangladesh Country Manager Atikur Rahman were also spoke on the occasion.
