Three nabbed with drugs in two districts
Three persons were held with drugs in two districts- Rajshahi and Joypurhat, on Monday.
RAJSHAHI: Police arrested two employees of Rajshahi University with four bottles of phensedyl on Monday afternoon.
Earlier, students caught them near Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall of the university and handed them over to police.
The detainees are Shafiqul Islam, watchman of Dr Mohammad Shahidullah Art Bhaban of the university, and Badal, former employee of the steward branch.
Witness Rashid Rajan, a residential student of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall, said some youths were hiding something in the jungle near Joha Hall. Some students of the hall followed them and caught them with four bottles of phensidyl. Later they were handed over to the police. Sub-Inspector of Kajla Police Outpost Abdul Momin said legal action will be taken against them.
JOYPURHAT: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a drug trader with two kilograms of hemp from Bhadsha Jalilpara area in Sadar Upazila of the district on Monday night.
The detainee is Md Babu Hossen, 35, of the area. RAB sources said on a tip-off, a team of RAB led by Joypurhat Camp Commander Additional Police Super Md Ajmal Hossen raided the said area and arrested the drug peddler with the hemp.
RAB filed a case under Narcotics Control Act, and handed over the arrested to police, the RAB official said.
