Brac varsity student killed in road crash

Yet another university student was killed in a road accident at city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Fahmida Akhter Labanya,21, a third year student of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Brac University.

The student was taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) where she died .

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police SI Nurul Islam confirmed media about the accident, but could not elaborate how the the accident took place.

He said the student was going to the university using a ride sharing service when she met the tragic end of her life.

Another police source said the accident occurred around 11:45 am.

The source also said the girl fell down onto the road from the bike when a covered van rammed into it from behind.

The biker whisked her off to Suhrwardy Hospital in a critical state, where doctors on duty declared her dead.

The covered van driver fled the scene with his vehicle after the accident.

SI Nurul Islam also said rider Sumon also received injuries in the accident.

He left the hospital taking first aid before police went there.
