Zayan buried beside Aug 15 martyrs
Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim's grandson Zayan Chowdhury, who was killed in Sri Lanka blasting on Easter Sunday, was laid to rest at Banani graveyard.
After a namaj-e-janaza at Banani Club ground after Asr prayers, the boy was buried beside the graves of martyrs of August 15, 1975 carnage.
Earlier, people from all walks of life, including politicians joined the funeral prayers for Zayan.
Before the beginning of janaza, Sheikh Selim, also the cousin of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, sought doa for his grandson and son-in-law Mashiur Chowdhury, who received critical injuries in the bombings and undergoing treatment at a hospital there.
Earlier, a flight of Sri Lankan Airlines, carrying Zayan's body, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:42pm.
The body was taken to Sheikh Selim's Banani residence where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited and consoled family members.
Eight-and-a-half-years old Zayan,elder son of Sheikh Selim’s daughter Sheikh Amena Sultana Sonia, died in the explosion in a Colombo hotel while having breakfast with his father Mashiul Haque Chowdhury. The blasts also left his father critically injured.
