2 killed in city road crash
Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Matsya Bhaban intersection in city's Ramna area on Tuesday morning.
Police and witnesses said a passenger bus of ‘Swadhin Paribahan’ rammed into a bus, two private cars and two rickshaws simultaneously when its driver lost control over steering at about 7:45am, leaving four people injured.
They were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on duty doctors declared two of them dead.
the DMCH police outpost in-charge inspector Bachchu Miah confirmed the matter saying the bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsies.
However, the details about accident and the deceased could not be known immediately.
Police have detained Nazrul Islam, the driver of ‘Swadhin Paribahan,’ after the accident.
Nazrul told police that he lost control over steering because of brake fail, said Md Johirul Islam, inspector (operation) of the Ramna Police Station.
Witnesses said the ‘Swadhin Paribahan’ bus first hit a bus of the Atomic Energy Commission which, later, hit a rickshaw, leaving a passenger dead on the spot. The rickshaw puller and another passenger were seriously injured.
Two injured people were identified as Sharif, 20, and Nur-e-Alam, 30.
