Four killed in M’singh road crash
MYMENSINGH, Apr 20 : At least four people, including a freedom fighter, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Alalpur on Mymensingh-Phulpur Road under Mymensingh Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The dead were identified as freedom fighter Mustafizur Rahman, 62, his wife Rahima Khatun, 45, of village Raizan in Tarakanda upazila; Yunus Ali, 50, and his younger brother Abdul Quddus, 35, of village Boula in Phulpur upazila of the district.
Quoting local people, officer-in-charge (OC- Operation) of Kotwali Police Station Khandaker Shaker Ahmed said the accident took place when a Phulpur bound truck from Mymensingh collided head on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Alalpur around 11:15am, killing four passengers of the auto-rickshaw on the spot and injuring two others
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) morgue for autopsy. The injured passengers were also admitted at the hospital, said the OC.
Following the accident, traffic on the road remained suspended for an hour. Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
