Drug trader killed in ‘gunfight’

SIRAJGANJ, Apr 20: An alleged drug trader was killed in a 'gunfight' with police in Ullapara upazila of the district early Saturday.
The deceased, Mostofa Kamal, 33, hailed from Kawak village in the upazila.
The incident took place near Ghoshganti Government Primary School around 2:00am.
Police said Inspector (Investigation) Md Golam Mostafa and Sub-Inspector Mosharraf Hossain were also injured during the 'gunfight'. They were given first aid at Sirajganj 250-Bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Ullapara Police Station went to Ghoshganti area where a gang was selling drugs.
When police arrived, the
drug traders opened fire, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate. At one stage, Mostofa fell to the ground, while his cohorts managed to flee.
According to police, Mostafa was wanted in at least 11 cases filed against him with different police stations including Ullapara.
