Six held with drugs in two districts
Six persons were arrested with drugs in two districts- Rajshahi and Jamalpur, in two days.
RAJSHAHI: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Detective Branch (DB) of Police, in separate drives, arrested three drug traders with drugs from the city in two days.
Members RAB arrested a female drug trader with 2,100 yaba tablets from Motihar area in the city on Friday night.
Arrestee Aziza Akhter Ria alias Poly, 21, is the daughter of Mahatab Ali Babu of Kakonhat Tilahari Village under Godagari Upazila of the district.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mainul Islam, company commander of RAB-5 CPCC Mollapara camp, said a team raided Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation bus stand in Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology at 8:30pm and arrested the drug trader with the yaba.
A case was filed with Motihar Police Station (PS) in this connection.
On the other hand, DB of Police of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) detained two persons with 200 yaba tablets from Bandaghat area of the city early Thursday.
The detainees are- Masud Rana, 30, son of late Tofazzal Hossen of Meramotpur Village in Charghat Upazila and a prison guard of Rajshahi Central Jail, and Afzal Ali, 31, son of Ashraf Ali of Rauthar Village in the upazila.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of DB Police Ekramul Haque said a team of DB police raided the area at 12:30am on Thursday and arrested the two with the yaba tablets.
They were sent to jail on Thursday after filing a case with Rajpara PS under Narcotics Control Act.
JAMALPUR: Members of RAB arrested three drug peddlers with 50 yaba tablets from Bogabaid area in Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday night.
Jamalpur RAB-14 sources said a team of the elite force led by its Company Commander Zonaid Afrad raided the area and arrested Md Julhas Mandal, 45, Md Lal Miah, 30, and Md Saju, 20, with the yaba.
A case was filed with Jamalpur Sadar PS.
