DU MCJ celebrates Prof Ali, Prof Sultana's career

Prof Ahaduzzaman Mohammad Ali and Prof Akhtar Sultana are set to retire after more than three decades of teaching at Dhaka University's Department of Mass Communication and Journalism.
A farewell programme was held at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium on Saturday to celebrate their long career and contributions to the department.
Prof Ali and Prof Sultana will retire on June 30.
Chairperson of the department Prof DrKaberi Gayen thanked them for opening the eyes of the students to allow them see the world in a new light.
A humble man, Prof Ali looked back at his career and thanked his students. "I learned more from them while teaching," he said.
One of his former students from his first batch remembered him as a scholar with outstanding knowledge and "one of the best teachers we've ever had."
Teachers, former and current students of the department, along with well-wishers, attended the event.
