Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies in Homeopathy (BCASH) organized a seminar titled 'Homeopathy for Digestive Disorder' at its Farmgate office in the capital recently.
The programme was held marking the 263rd birth anniversary of Samuel Hahnemann, a Garman physician known as the Father of homeopathy.
Stressing on conducting research and training on homeopathy in the country, health experts at the seminar said that research can flourish the development of the alternative system of treatment.
There are a lot of medicines in homeopathy, but benefits cannot be derived from it because of absence of research and training, which is hampering proper treatment. Though recognized by World Health Organization (WHO), step has not yet been taken for flourishing homeopathy, they said.
There are about 70 homeopathy colleges in the country. Of them, only two are degree colleges.  Though there is a provision to establish at least a 10-bed hospital along with a homeopathy medical college, almost no college has hospital in the country, they said, addressing a seminar.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the quality of locally produced homeopathic medicine, they attributed to absence of research as well as higher education on homeopathy for the sorry condition in the sector.
Dr Sheikh Mohammad Iftekhar Uddin, member of Bangladesh Homeopathic Board, attended as the chief guest with Dr. M A Quader, chairman of (BCASH), in the chair.
