Bangladesh to face off Laos in FIFA, AFC qualifiers
Bangladesh football team will face off Laos in the round-1 of the preliminary joint qualifications for FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023.
The draw held at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday morning.
A total of 12 Asian nations will participate in the round-1 of both the tournaments. The teams are: Bangladesh, Laos, Mongolia, Brunei Darussalam, Macau, Sri Lanka, Laos, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Timor-Leste, Cambodia, Pakistan, Bhutan and Guam.
Bangladesh and Laos will add spice to the mix when they face each other for a place in the second round. Both teams are beginning their qualifying campaign in Round 1 for the first time after usually starting from Round 2.
Bangladesh Football Federation reports: According to AFC’s official announcement, the first leg of the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 1 will take place on June 6 with the return leg scheduled to kick-off on June 11.
The six winners will join Asia’s top 34 teams in the Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2, which will commence in September.
