The High Court on Monday issued a rule asking the authorities concerned as to why an order
will not be issued to set a guideline for the arbitration councils over divorces in line with Muslim family law, Quran and internationals convention.
In the rule the court also sought for a safeguard for the women's livelihood expenses to be borne by her husband during the notice period for Talaq or divorce.
The guideline should address the issues like protection of the children, Denmohor and other expenses and also the role of the Arbitration Councils over settling these issues.
An HC bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader issued the rule after hearing on a writ petition filed on public interest by BWLA.
The secretaries for the Cabinet, Law, Legislative and Parliamentary affairs, Women and Children Ministry and the Chairman of the Law Commission have been asked to reply the rule within four weeks.
