Voter list update from Apr 23

The Election Commission (EC) is likely to start collecting data from April 23 this year from across the country to update the country's voter list.
According to the EC officials, information of around 80 lakh million citizens will be collected in this round during the data collection.
They will collect data on citizens who are over 16-year old and born on or before January 1, 2003.
Those, who are already 18 years, will be enrolled as voters while the other will be enrolled as voters once they are turned into 18 years old, according to EC officials.
Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed told reporters that after ending data collection and registration of the voter on May 13 this year, fingerprints collection will be started at designated centers from May 25.
It will continue till October 30. More than 40,000 polling stations of the last general election will be used for the registration process.
According to the EC, it has assigned 52,500 data collectors, 10,500 supervisors, and 780 assistant registration officers for the voter's lists update.
The dates for area-wise data collection will be announced later.
The EC Secretary also said dead voters will be dropped from the voter list during the process. Citizens will also be able to file applications for transferring their electoral areas.
