Barishal prepared to welcome new Bangla year
Enthusiasts have prepared to observe ‘Choitro Sangkranti’ and ‘Pahela Boishakh’ in Barishal with various colorful programme.
Udichi Shilpi Gosthi at BM School and Sur Lahori Songeet Biddayaloy, Parantik Songeet Biddayalaya, Anirban Shilpi Gosthi at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises, arranged cultural program on Pahela Boshakh early morning to welcome new Bangla year.
Gano Shilpi Sangstha will perform cultural shows of folk songs and drama in front of Barisal Ashwini Kumar Hall on Pahela Baishakh afternoon.
Charukala Barisal and Udichi Barisal district Sangsad will bring traditional ‘Mangol Shovajatra (procession of well being for all)’ from Barisal City College and BM school compound at 8:00am on April 14 morning with ‘Rakhi Bandhan (friendship ties) ceremony.
Mangol Shovajatra would also be organized by district administration at 7:00am on Pahela Baishakh from Bangabandhu Udyan to Barisal Circuit House.
All Mangol Shovajatra rally would be ended at their starting points after marching on city roads carrying motifs of Bengali folk and daily life.
Charukala Barisal and Udichi will also arrange ‘‘Lokojo Sangskritik Prodorshani (folk cultural fair)” and juvenile painting competition at Barisal City College and BM school ground focusing on regional life, folk and heritage including preparation and marketing of different handicraft items, performing folk songs and dramas like Jari, Sari, Royani, Hoyla, presenting painting exhibition.
On the other hand Shabdaboli Group Theatre at Barisal central Shahid Minar, Planet World Children Park at park premises, and local businessmen at Hatkhola will arrange Choitra Sangkranti Utsav, Boishakhi Mela, and cultural programme in the city on April 12-15.
Under the programs for bidding farewell and welcoming Bangla new-year local businessmen clearing their enterprises observed ‘Halkhata Utsov’ on April 14.
Local administration and law enforcing agencies arranged special measures for safety and security of the people, functions and fair grounds of Pahela Baishakh and related programmes by ensuring uninterrupted power supply at night, deploying mobile patrol teams with uniform and plainclothes, check posts at sensitive and key points and continuous vigilance against pick-pockets and eve teasers, said SM Ruhul Amin, metropolitan police commissioner of Barisal.
