Teaching underway in verandah, under open sky at Gafargaon
The students were frightened when the ceiling plaster drops from different places under the roof of the Mosakhali Tanpara Government Primary School building in Gafargaon upazila.
Teaching activities are now underway in the verandah of the new two-room building and under the open sky.
During school time at around 12pm on Thursday, the cement was found lying in different places.
Headmaster of the school Sanjida Akhter and Assistant Teacher Md Jahirul Kabir said that the building was abandoned for almost 5 years after the collapse of large-scale cracks in the 4-room building constructed in the year 1994-95 as the building was risky and became unusable.
There are two classrooms in the building built in the 2012-2013 fiscal year. Due to lack of adequate classrooms, teaching activities are going on the school verandah and under the open sky. The matter has been informed to the upazila education officer.
Assistant Upazila Education Officer Kushal Ahmad Rony visited the school building on Tuesday. Assistant Education Officer Kashal Ahmad Rony said on the mobile phone, he told the authorities that the building was risky after inspection.
The building was built in 1994. There are 294 students in the school.
