SAFF Women's Championship
Bangladesh eliminated from semis
Bangladesh national women's football team's dream to play the final of the SAFF Women's Championship for the second time was shattered after a devastating 4-0 defeat to India in a semi-final match on Wednesday at the Shaheed Rangasala Stadium, Biratnagar in Nepal.
Winning the match on the day, India is going to play the final of the event for the five consecutive times.
India scorer Indumathi Kathiresan made a brace scoring in the 23rd and 37th minute while Dalima Chhibber scored one in 17th minute and Manisha scored the last goal in the added time of the second half.
India women who are the four-time champions of the event have a reputation of losing no match in the event. Playing 22 matches so far, they won 21 matches except a draw with Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Nepal women are also in the final for the fourth time winning a 4-0 match over Sri Lanka in the other semi-final match at the same venue.
Now, India and Nepal will engage in the final on Friday at 3:15pm.
Bangladesh women begin the event in a good mood with a 2-0 win over Bhutan but losing the second and last group match to Nepal by 3-0, they placed second in the group and set to play the semi-final against India.
