DU to scrutinize allegations over DUCSU polls
Dhaka University (DU) authorities are scrutinizing the allegations over Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) elections received from various panels, candidates who participated in the polls.
University authority issued a statement over DUCSU polls on Saturday afternoon.
DU authority also asked concerned quarters to submit evidence over DCUSU election rigging, forgery and irregularities to the university administration so that they can take necessary steps over the issue.
In the statement, the DU authorities said that confusing statements and opinions, circulated in print and online media and talk shows over the DCUSU elections, have drawn the attention of the DU authorities.
“A vested quarter was trying to gain political mileage by destabilizing the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the country and on the university campus…they were out to create an untoward incident on the campus,” reads the DU statement.
“However, the students, who cherish the values of the university, thwarted such a bid,” the statement claimed.
It also said, “An evil group also has tarnished the university’s image by spreading and making negative comments about DUCSU elections on print and electronic media without any cross checking-- which is not acceptable,” it added.
However, the authorities rejected the allegations of vote rigging and irregularities in the elections.
