Six sustain burn injuries in melted iron

Six workers sustained burn injuries as melted iron fell on them at a steel factory in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Mainuddin, 25, Shah Alam, 55, Amzad Hossain, 40, Riad Hossain, 25, Shakib Hossain, 32, and Md Mishu, 35.

Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Alauddin Talukder confirmed the matter.

The ASI said the workers suffered burn injuries when they were melting iron to cut scrap vessel at the factory, leaving them critically injured.

In critical condition, they were brought to CMCH. Among them, four were referred to Dhaka as their condition deteriorated, ASI Alauddin added, reports a Bangla online newspaper.
