Barishal students demand climate change safety
Hundreds of children of different schools on Friday marched in Barishal city demanding protection against climate change and save future.
They brought out a procession from Ashwini Kumar Hall to Sahid Minar and formed human chain, held rally and sit-in at Sahid Minar.
“Future of Bangladesh is more vulnerable due to climate changes affects. So we are raising our voice on this issue,” said Lima, one of students of the programme.
“We demanded climate justice against this risk,” said Arif Jobayer, a student of Barishal University.
“Ensure our safety, we want implementation of Paris treaty,” he added.
Sohanur Rahman, coordinator of ‘Youthnet for Climate Justice', said Children of different countries walked out on road from their school demanding assurance for safety from climate change affects.
Barishal Deputy Commissioner SM Ajiar Rahman Said such kinds of sensational programme should be arranged to create public awareness for safety against risks created from climate changes affect.
“This is just the beginning. We will continue more programme for this issue,” said Sakila Islam, one of oranisgers.
Youthnet for Climate Justice arranged this programme and Barishal City Corporation assisted this programme.
