Chawkbazar fire: Govt to give Tk 1 lakh for each dead worker

The government will provide Tk one lakh to each family of the workers killed in the fire at Chawkbazar in Old part of Dhaka.

Besides, each family of the injured workers will receive Tk 50,000, said a press release of the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Thursday.

Expressing her deep shock at the deaths, Labour and Employment Minister Monnujan Sufian said her Ministry will provide Tk one lakh to the families of workers killed in the fire incident and Tk 50,000 for the injured workers for their treatment.

At least 70 people were killed and scores injured in a fire that broke out at a four-storey building near the Shahi Mosque in Churihatta area of Chawkbazar on Wednesday night.
