Clash in Madaripur leaves 50 people injured

Madaripur, Feb 17: A clash between people of two villages on Saturday night left at least 50 people injured.
The clash took place between the people of Mollakandi and Bejbari villages at Shanerpar of Rajoir Upazila Madaripur on Saturday night over a trivial matter.
A total 50 villagers including two OCs, four sub-inspectors and four constables were injured in the clash. All sorts of vehicles on the Dhaka -Barisal route were suspended for three hours following the clash.
Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Rajoir Police Station Jiaul Morshed quoting locals said an altercation took place over eating sweets between Sojol Hawlader of Mollakandi and Emon Sheikh of Bejbari.
Villagers locked in the clash with lethal weapons from 8 pm to 11pm on Saturday.
Hearing the news of clash, police led by the OC visited the spot and fired 66 bullets to disperse the villagers.
