RUCSU polls: Chhatra Moitree submits demands for dialogue
RAJSHAHI, Feb 13: Rajshahi University (RU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Moitree (BCM) submitted their 10-point charter of demands to the Dialogue Committee on Tuesday to participate in a discussion over RU Central Students' Union (RUCSU) polls.
BCM's 10-point demands included: making a voter list with photographs in order to arrange a fair election, establishing a polling station outside the residential hall, providing maximum security to the polling stations, establishing the environment council, ensuring co-existence between the parties in the campus and the halls, forming Election Commission with non-political teachers, not giving any special privileges to any political party, creating environment for all students to conduct political activities independently on the campus, putting political restrictions and giving equal opportunities to all students, and keeping unregistered political groups out of the election to ensure safety of the students.
Zakir Hossain, convener of RU BCM Unit said, "The Dialogue Committee has been positive about our demands. They also assured us of considering the demands seriously."
Prof Lutfar Rahman, RUCSU Dialogue Committee convener and proctor, said police will check any harassment on the students or leaders.
RUCSU Dialogue Committee had a dialogue with the organisation at the proctor's office. In the dialogue, Jobayer Johasaha, joint convener of BCM and several other leaders and activists were also present.
