Police recovered the body of a former principal of Eden Mohila College from her residence on Dhaka's Elephant Road on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin, 60.
Md Maruf Hossain Sardar, deputy commissioner (Ramna Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said being informed, a police team went to the scene and recovered the body from her flat at Sukanya Tower at night.
UNB adds: Police said there were three domestic helps at her home. "Two of them are now missing. It seemed from the injury marks on the body that the principal was strangulated to death by them."
Victim's husband Ismat Quadir Gama, who was outside, said he knocked the door after returning home and one of the domestic helps opened the door and told him that she was finding no one at the house.
After entering the house, he found his wife lying dead on the bed, Gama said, adding that domestic helps Joba Reshma, 30, and Swapna, 35, had been on the run after the murder and cupboards were damaged.
They had been working at their house for the last one-and-a-half months, he said.
Gama and Mahfuza have two sons who live separately. One of them is an army officer and the other a banker.
