A suspected mugger sustained bullet injuries in Dhaka's Shahbagh area as police fired gunshot after the lawmen "came under attack" on Sunday.
Abul Hasan, Officer-in-Charge of Shahbagh Police Station said the suspected mugger Masud, 35, who received a bullet beneath his left knee, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

A police team signalled three bike-riding criminals mugging people in the area to stop near the gate of Shishu Park around 3:00am, the OC said.
"When the suspects tried to attack police brandishing machetes the police fired gunshot in self-defence leaving one of the suspects wounded," the OC added.
The two others managed to flee the scene, he also said. Police recovered the motorbike and machetes from the spot.

A case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station in this connection.
