Palash murder case: Key accused still at large
JAMALPUR, Feb 8: Prime accused in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee Palash murder case is still at large.
The victim's father filed the case accusing four including Sagar Miah, 19, key accused of the murder, and unnamed three to four others with Sharishabari Police Station on January 15.
Palash Miah, 17, son of poor farm labourer Saiful Islam of Kandarpara Village in Sharishabari Upazila was supposed to sit for the ongoing SSC exam from Pogaldigha High School in the upazila.
Sagar, son of Abdur Rashid of Rudra Boyra Village of the same upazila, borrowed Tk 2,000 from Palash.
On January 13, at 8:30pm, an altercation happened between the two when Palash went to Sagar's house and asked him to return the money. But, Sagar refused and hacked Palash with an axe, leaving him seriously injured.
Local people took him to Upazila Health Complex first, but later he died on way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
The victim's father Saiful said to this correspondent, "I was determined to ensure my son's higher education by any means. But, the dream faded away as he was murdered."
