Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said the BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront should wear black badges for their debacle in the December 30 polls. He came up with the remark at a press conference at the party president's political office at Dhanmondi in the capital.
Quader said despite being a big party, BNP could appoint polling agents at a very few polling centres. Despite declaration of guarding the polling
stations none was seen in the polling centres on the election day, he said.
In reply to a question, the AL General Secretary said there is no scope to differ with the Chief Election Commissioner who wanted to hold upazila election like that of the December 30 general elections which was held in a free, fair and impartial manner.
Referring to election boycott of BNP and Oikyafront, Quader said like the last parliamentary polls, upazila elections will not be deferred for anyone.
He said there is competition in AL as it is a big party. So, nomination seeking by a huge number of AL leaders cannot be termed internal feud, he said.
Quader said, "We have to wait till the withdrawal of nomination to see whether there is internal feud."
In reply to a query, the ruling party General Secretary said the party will not give nomination to those who manipulated the recommendation from the grassroots.
