Eight killed, 28 injured in road mishaps in six districts

Eight people were killed and 28 injured in road mishaps in six  districts- Noakhali, Gopalganj, Bogura, Panchagarh, Dinajpur, and Thakurgaon, in two days.
NOAKHALI: A motorcyclist was killed and 16 others were injured in a head-on-collision between a motorcycle and a Chander Gari (human hauler) at Stadium area on Ochkhali-Tamaruddin Road in Hatia Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rafuluddin, 26, son of late Babul of Khirdia area of Tamaruddin Union of the upazila.
Locals said a human hauler collided head-on with a motorcycle in the area, leaving motorcyclist Rafuluddin dead on the spot and another injured.
Later, the human hauler fell into a road-side ditch, leaving 15 of its passengers injured.
The injured were admitted to Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge of Hatia Police Station Kamruzzaman Shikdar confirmed the matter.
GOPALGANJ: A worker of a Palli Bidyut contractor was killed as he fell on the road from a nosimon (locally-made vehicle) at Kangshur area of Sadar Upazila in the district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam, 25, of the area.
The deceased was going to the construction site by the nosimon when a pickup van dashed the three-wheeler, causing Kamrul to fall on the road and die on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station (PS) Md Monirul Islam confirmed the incident and said the body was recovered and sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
BOGURA: Two passengers of a battery-run rickshaw van were killed in a head-on collision between the van and a truck at Haripur area under Gokul Union of Sadar Upazila in the district on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Anisur Rahman, 55, son of late Belayet Hossen of Sadhona Village under Namuza Union, and Shamsul Haque, 45, son of late Lokman Munshi of Chhota Tengra Village under Gokul Union in the upazila.
Sadar PS OC Badiuzzaman said a Bogura-bound truck from Namuza collided with the van, leaving one killed on the spot, while another died on the way to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Police seized the truck, the OC added.  
PANCHAGARH: Two people were killed in a road accident at Bhimpukuri area in Boda Upazila of the district on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Mansur Alam, 35, a tractor driver and resident of Mithapukur area in Sadar Upazila, and his assistant Chhatrish Chandra Barman, 38, of Bhimpukuri area.
Witnesses said, a tractor overturned on Dhaka-Panchagarh highway at 6:30pm, leaving its driver dead on the spot and his assistant critically injured.
The injured was rushed to Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead.
DINAJPUR: At least 11 people were injured in separate road accidents in the district on Saturday.
Dinajpur Police Control Room sources said a Dinajpur-bound microbus from Fulbari Upazila collided head-on with a tractor near Mohanpur Bridge in the upazila, leaving nine of the microbus injured.
Of them, microbus driver Dulal, 35, and passengers- Rashedul, 23, Nazrul, 28, Sajadul, 30, and Abdur Rahim, 35, were admitted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, while the other injured- Touhidul, 32, Rajen, 18, Momin, 42, and Sujan, 20, were given first aid.
The truck driver managed to flee with the truck.
On the other hand, Faruk Hossen, 28, and Abdur Razzak, 30, were coming to Dinajpur town from Khanpur of Sadar Upazila riding a motorcycle when on the way a tractor collided with the bike at Shikderhat area of Sadar Upazila, leaving the two injured.
They were admitted to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. As their condition worsened, they were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
THAKURGAON: Two persons were killed and one was injured in separate road accidents in the district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Habibullah, 6, son of Tayab Ali of Chandanhat Village under Ranisongkoil Upazila, and Abdul Awal, 32, son of an Awami League leader Saikat Ali of Gedura Munnatuli area under Haripur Upazila of the district.
Police and locals said Habibullah was crossing the Ranisongkoil-Baliadangi road at noon when a speedy microbus dashed him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Ranisongkoil PS OC Abdul Mannan confirmed the incident.

On the other hand, Abdul Awal was going to the district town riding a motorcycle along with his wife, when a trolley dashed the bike on Thakurgaon-Pirganj road at Shibganj area, leaving him dead on the spot and his wife seriously injured. She was admitted to Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
Sadar PS OC Ashikur Rahman confirmed the   incident.
The bodies were sent to morgue for autopsies.
Two unnatural death cases were filed in the incidents.
