BCL men demand ransom detaining girl student at RU

Allegations have been raised against three youths of Rajshahi University (RU) of detaining a girl and demanding Tk. 3000 in ransom.

On Friday evening, three youths as introducing themselves as BCL activists demanded ransom from her. On information, police rescued the girl.

The girl is a student of Rajshahi New Government Degree College. But the identity of the accused has not known yet.

It is learned from her friend Bivash that two of his female friends came to campus to meet with him on Friday evening. Later in the evening, three youths detained his friends and took them behind the university's Begum Rokeya hall.

They freed one of them taking Tk 1 thousand. At that time, they asked another friend to call Bivash to take her back in exchange for Tk 3000 in ransom.

Later, Bivash reported the matter with Kajla Police Camp of university.

Responding to a question about this, Bangladesh Chhatra League president of RU Golam Kibria said no such incident happened.

Motihar Police Station OC (Investigation) Mahbub Alam said, "On the spot, we saw the girl standing alone. No one has complained about this incident.
