Production warrant against Khaleda in Gatco graft case
A Special Court in Dhaka temporary set up on the ground of Alia madrasha, issued a production warrant (PW) against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Gatco graft case.
The court fixed on January 16 for hearing on charge framing against Khaleda and others in the case.
Dhaka Special Court-3 Judge Abu Sayed Dilder Hossain passed the order
on Thursday following a petition submitted Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol. Khaleda's lawyer Advocate Towhid Alam pleaded for more time for hearing on framing charge on the other hand prosecution opposed it.
The ACC PP mentioned before the court that the High Court Division on November 25, ordered to conclude all trial proceedings regarding this case within six months.
Earlier on September 2, 2007, ACC filed the Gatco graft case against Khaleda, her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami and 10 others for causing a loss of Tk145.64 crore to the national exchequer by allegedly awarding the contract of container handling at the Chittagong port and the Dhaka's Inland Container Depot to Gatco.
