Home Minster Asaduzzaman Khan encouraged the people on Saturday to exercise their franchise without fear.
"Security forces have created a good [voting] atmosphere under the Election Commission's supervision," he told the media at his Monipuripara residence in the evening, UNB reports.
Asaduzzaman also urged the people not to pay heed to the propaganda of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, saying they are trying to create unrest.
He claimed BNP-Jamaat activists had killed six Awami League leaders and supporters and injured 445 others in December.
They also attacked 187 election offices and launched bomb attacks and opened fires on 58 AL election offices in as many districts during the period.
He praised the security forces, saying they were alert and working round the clock.
"Everything is under control," the minister assured voters. "Security forces are ready to tackle any situation ... The people will vote [in Sunday's national election] in a festive and safe atmosphere."
