164 vote centers vulnerable in Khagrachhari
Election Commission has taken strict security measures to make the election a success in Khagrachhari as at least 164 vote centers, out of 187, are vulnerable in Khagrachhari constituency.
District Election Office sources said there were a total of 187 vote centers in Khagrachhari constituency where 4,41,843 voters including 2,26,536 male voters scheduled to cast their votes to choose lawmaker for 11th national election.
A total 1117 police personals and 2246 Ansar-VDP members, 640 Army personnel, 575 BGB personnel were deployed to ensure law and order at vote centers where 12 striking teams, two standby striking teams, 3 mobile courts, headed by judicial magistrates, 25 mobile teams were patrolling to hold the election in free, fair and credible manner.
Awami League candidate Kujendra Lal Tripura blamed his political rival BNP and UPDF supported independent candidate and their followers for rigging polls. He urged Returning Officer to take stern action against those who try to manipulate the election.
BNP candidate Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, UPDF-backed independent candidate Natun Kumar Chakma blamed AL candidate and his followers for establishing control over the vote centers. Voters are in panic to go vote centers to cast their votes as they were threatened by AL leaders, they alleged.
Returning Officer (RO) and Deputy Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam said EC is ready for 11th parliament election successfully. “We have sent all election equipment at 187 vote centers by this afternoon."
Pointing at the allegation, RO said blaming is political games of candidates and we cant stop any one from delivery such political statements.
