A fire broke out at multi-storey building Zaman Tower in Dhaka's Bijoynagar area on Friday.

Eighth floor of the building caught the fire around 2:40pm, said fire service control room duty officer Rasel Shikdar. But he could not confirm the cause of the fire, reports UNB.

There is Jatiya Oikyafront's office on the third floor of the building.

"We fear it is an act of sabotage to impede our works before the national election," said Latiful Bari Hamim, Oikyafront's media wing member.

Eight firefighting units are trying to extinguish the fire, said Rasel Shikdar.

The extent of damage could not be known immediately.
