Razzak stars as South Zone retain BCL title

South Zone retained the title of the Bangladesh Cricket League with a nine-wicket victory over Chittagong North Zone in Chittagong.
This is the fourth occasion South Zone won the competition trophy having earlier been champions in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, BSS reports.
Veteran left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak struck the decisive blow in South Zone’s last round match, taking 12 for 144 to pick up the Player-of-the-Match award.
South Zone were in a dominant position after they amassed 541 for all in the first innings riding on opener Anamul Haque’s magnificent 180 runs after Razzak’s seven wickets in the first innings.
North Zone resumed their second innings on the fourth day with overnight score of 186 for five, needing 61 more to avoid an innings defeat as they were finally bowled out for 280 having batted less than 25 overs today.
In reply, Anamul Haque (20 n.o) and Fazle Ahmed (8 n.o) completed the mere formality for South Zone in the second innings chase as they cruised their destination in 7.1 overs.
Dhiman Ghosh took the lone South Zone’s wicket conceding 10 runs.
