Police cordon off former Rajshahi mayor Bulbul's house
Rajshahi City Corporation's former mayor and city BNP president Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul's house was cordoned off by police on Monday.
The police withdrew from there after the BNP's candidate of Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency and Khaleda Zia's adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu arrived at Bulbul’s house.
Minu made the complain to the Returning Officer, also Rajshahi deputy commissioner who rganized a exchange of views among rival candidates at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room. Most of the candidates of Rajshahi took part in the meeting.
Minu said at the meeting, "The plainclothes police cordoned off the house of Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul from dawn till 11am on Monday. They had arms with them. When I went to Bulbul's house at around 11pm, they left the place.”
Minu said to the returning officer, “I am leaving Bulbul with you. He will be with you till the election day.”
Responding to the proposal, Returning Officer SM Abdul Kader said, "If there is any case against Bulbul, then I have nothing to do with. But if there is no case, I will guarantee that none will arrest him.”
Officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station Aman Ullah said, "There is no information that the former Mayor Bulbul's house was surrounded by police in plainclothes."
