AL Parliamentary Board meets today

The Awami League Parliamentary Board is slated to hold meeting today (Sunday) for the first time after the announcement of the poll schedule and commencement of sale of the party nomination forms.
The ruling party is expected to finalise its candidates in the meeting scheduled to start from 3:30pm at the party headquarters at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital, according to sources.
Earlier, in a joint meeting of Awami League, it decided that they would at first announce candidates for all the 300 seats of the parliamentary polls and later would withdraw candidature from the seats which were given to
alliance partners. The ruling Awami League on Saturday sold party nomination forms to the aspirants for second day. On the day, the party sold 1500 nomination forms, according to sources.
AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam, leaders Shamim Osman, Information State Minister Tarana Halim, Actor Shakil Khan, were, among others who purchase nomination forms of the AL. Actress Sarah Begum Kabari collected nomination form for Dhaka-17 though she was earlier elected lawmaker from a seat of Narayanganj in which Shamim Osman is the lawmaker now.
Meanwhile, Cricketers Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe bin Mortaza are slated to collect nomination papers of AL today and they confirmed the matter to Awami League general secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at 12 pm over phone, said Md Abu Naser, senior information officer of the Ministry.
Earlier, in a press conference of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, this correspondent spotted Shakib Al Hasan at Ganobhaban.
The party has increased the price of nomination form by Tk 5000, and now the price stands at Tk 30000.
