Tea worker killed in Habiganj

HABIGANJ, Nov 10: A worker was killed and another injured in an attack on them over trifling matter in Lalchand Tea Garden of Chunarughat Upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Anuj Malakar, 34, son of Babul Malakar of the tea garden.
The injured was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge of Chunarughat Police Station KM Azmiruzzaman said the deceased was in conflict over various reasons with Sujan Mia, 28, son of Bachchu Mia of the area.
On Thursday night, some locals were blasting crackers when Anuj and his aide Ratan Bhoumick locked in a scuffle with Sujan and his cohorts.
At one stage, Sujan and his cohorts beat Anuj and Ratan, leaving Anuj dead on the spot and Ratan injured.
Being informed, police recovered and sent the body to Sadar Adhunik Hospital for an autopsy.
Police arrested Sujan in this connection.
